Description
This piece represents the epitome of textile luxury, combining the world’s most desired natural fiber with a legacy weaving technique, presented in a delicate and sophisticated palette.
The foundation is pure Pashmina, renowned for its feather-light texture, extraordinary warmth, and exquisite hand-feel. This wool, sourced from the Changthangi goat, gives the shawl a flowing, elegant drape. The primary field of the fabric is a pristine white colour, offering a luminous and versatile base that speaks to refined taste and luxury.
Against this bright canvas, the elaborate Kaani work (tapestry weaving) is executed primarily in a contrasting beige colour. The Kaani technique, which uses hundreds of tiny, color-filled wooden spools (Kani), weaves complex and highly detailed patterns directly into the fabric, making the design fully reversible.
The interplay of white and beige creates a subtle yet powerful visual effect. The beige threading, often forming traditional motifs such as intricate floral lattices, swirling paisleys (Buta), or detailed borders, appears almost like fine architectural detail etched into the soft white snow of the Pashmina. The muted color contrast ensures the shawl remains versatile while elevating the garment’s elegance and highlighting the painstaking hand-woven artistry of the Kaani tradition.
